A Quick Note for Parents: Hindi Tutor is built for kids aged 3–18. Because it’s a voice-based tutor, it records your child’s speech during lessons and stores basic profile info (name, age) so Kiki can personalize the experience. We never sell this data. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you stay in control.
Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
To provide our Hindi tutoring service, we collect the following information:
- Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture to create your account.
- Child's Information: You provide your child's name, age, and gender to personalize the learning experience. Your child's name is transliterated into Hindi (Devanagari script) for use within sessions.
- Voice Recordings: During lessons, your child speaks to Kiki and we convert that audio to text so Kiki can respond. Recordings may also be stored securely so you can review them in your parent dashboard, and — with your consent — anonymized versions help us improve how well our system understands children's speech (see Section 2).
- Conversation Data: The text of what your child and Kiki said, along with grammar feedback and progress scores — this is how Kiki tracks what your child is learning.
- Learning Progress: Reward points, sticker collections, conversation history, and assessment results.
- Usage Data: Basic technical info (device type, session length, error logs) so we can keep the app running smoothly.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
Core Service Delivery:
- Provide personalized Hindi tutoring conversations with Kiki, our AI tutor
- Convert speech to text and assess pronunciation and grammar in real time
- Track and display learning progress, rewards, and achievements
- Adapt conversation difficulty based on your child's age and skill level
Making Hindi Tutor Better (with your consent):
- Anonymized voice data helps us get better at understanding how kids actually speak Hindi — especially when they mix in English
- Conversation patterns help Kiki give more natural, age-appropriate responses
- Usage patterns help us improve the overall experience
About AI Training Data: Any data used to improve our models is first anonymized — it can’t be traced back to your child. And if you’d rather opt out of this entirely, just email us. Your child keeps full access to Hindi Tutor either way.
Other Uses:
- Provide technical support when needed
- Send important service updates (with your consent)
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Why We’re Allowed to Use This Data
- Your consent: When you create an account and set up your child’s profile, you’re giving us permission to collect what’s needed for the tutoring experience.
- Delivering the service: Some data processing is simply necessary to make Hindi Tutor work (e.g., converting speech to text).
- Keeping things safe: Basic security and reliability monitoring.
- Legal requirements: Where required by law.
4. Children’s Privacy
Hindi Tutor is built for kids, so protecting their privacy is central to how we operate. Here’s how we comply with children’s privacy laws:
United States (COPPA):
- Only a parent or guardian can create an account — kids can’t sign up on their own.
- We only collect what’s needed to make the tutoring work.
- You can review your child’s data, request deletion, or stop further collection at any time.
- We never require extra personal info as a condition for using the service.
- You can opt out of AI training use at any time without losing access.
Singapore (PDPA):
- We get parental consent before collecting any child’s personal data.
- Data is only used for purposes you’d reasonably expect from a tutoring service.
- We use standard security measures to protect personal data.
- You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.
5. Parental Consent
How we know we have your permission:
- Account creation: You sign in with Google and set up your child’s profile — that confirms you’re the parent/guardian and agree to these practices.
- Ongoing control: You can review your child’s data, request deletion, or opt out of AI training at any time by emailing shubham@hindispeakingtutor.in.
6. Who Sees Your Data
We never sell, rent, or trade your data. Period. Here are the only cases where anyone else touches it:
- Service providers that help Hindi Tutor work:
- Google Gemini — powers Kiki’s conversations and grammar feedback
- Google Cloud Speech-to-Text — turns your child’s speech into text
- ElevenLabs — gives Kiki her voice
- Amazon Web Services (S3) — securely stores voice recordings for parent review
- Sentry — helps us catch and fix bugs
- Educators: If you join through a teacher code, your child’s learning progress (not voice recordings) may be visible to that teacher.
- Legal requirements: Only when required by law or to protect user safety.
7. Where Your Data Lives
Our servers and service providers are in the United States and Singapore. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and our providers maintain standard data-protection safeguards.
8. How We Keep It Safe
- All traffic encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) and data encrypted at rest
- Sign-in via Google OAuth 2.0 — we never see or store your Google password
- Access to personal data limited to need-to-know basis
- Hosted on secure cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud)
- Sessions managed with secure tokens
9. How Long We Keep Data
- Voice recordings: Real-time speech-to-text happens in memory and isn’t saved. Recordings stored for parent review are kept up to 12 months, then auto-deleted. Anonymized training data (no link to your child) may be kept longer.
- Conversation history & account info: Kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days if you delete your account.
- Usage data: Kept in aggregate form for up to 24 months.
10. Your Rights
You’re in control. As a parent or guardian you can:
- See your data — request a copy of everything we hold about you and your child
- Fix it — correct any inaccurate info
- Delete it — ask us to delete your account and all associated data (processed within 30 days)
- Withdraw consent — stop data collection or AI training use at any time
- Opt out of AI training — your child keeps full access to the service
- Export — get your child’s learning data in a machine-readable format
Just email shubham@hindispeakingtutor.in — we’ll respond within 30 days.
US state-specific rights: Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and similar states may have additional rights. We do not sell data, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and your child.
2. What Hindi Tutor Does
Hindi Tutor lets kids practice speaking Hindi through fun, voice-based conversations with Kiki, an AI tutor that adapts to their age and skill level.
3. What We Ask of Parents
- Provide accurate info (especially your child’s age) when signing up
- Manage the account on your child’s behalf
- Keep an eye on younger children during sessions
- Use the service for its intended educational purpose
- Let us know if you think your account has been compromised
4. Age Requirements
Hindi Tutor is for kids aged 3–18. Under 13 — a parent must create the account and supervise. Ages 13–18 — parental awareness and consent required.
5. Voice Recordings & AI Training
Your child’s voice is recorded during lessons so Kiki can understand and respond. Anonymized recordings may also help us improve our speech recognition. You can opt out of the training use at any time without losing access.
6. What to Expect
Hindi Tutor is a fun supplement to your child’s language learning — not a replacement for comprehensive education. While we do our best, we can’t guarantee specific learning outcomes.
7. Service Availability
We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but occasional downtime happens. We’ll give reasonable notice before making big changes.
8. Intellectual Property
Kiki, the AI responses, and educational content belong to us. Your child’s personal data (including voice recordings) remains yours, subject to this privacy policy.
9. Changes to Terms
If we make meaningful changes — especially around how children’s data is handled — we’ll email you at least 30 days in advance.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by US law. For users in Singapore, the PDPA also applies.
